‘Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house,
Not a sound could be heard, ‘cept the click of a mouse.
I tapped softly at keys, poking them one by one,
In hopes that my Christmas post soon would be done.
I lay around nestled all snug in my bed,
While visions of posting late danced in my head.
A busy exam season had sapped all my strength,
Then a flu, and visiting my parents at length.
When up in my head, I came up with a plan:
I’d spoof “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas”! Oh man!
It’d be witty and fun and a great time to read,
The problem was finding the words that I’d need.
See, I knew that I’d have to give it a fun twist,
So that no one who saw it could ever resist.
When what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But RhymeZone, encouraging me to persevere.
It gave me ideas, at least for a time,
But just then I heard the clock’s midnight chime.
I stared at the screen, softly rubbing my eyes,
And suddenly felt a strong urge to plagiarize.
“Now, Dasher! Now, Dancer! Now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On, Cupid! On, Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! To the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!”
Despite the part of me wanting to die,
I felt I should give it the old college try.
I figured that once I had seen this all through,
I’d thank my friend Coffee (and Henry Livingston too).
And then, through the haze, I briefly recalled,
The reason my blog kept my readers enthralled.
It wasn’t because they cared for my aims,
It was so they could read about video games!
I frantically thought about what to include,
That would make people okay with this brief interlude.
I thought of the games that I’d cleared in the past,
Before I was blogging; I’d review them at last!
Ground Zeroes was pretty, and the gameplay was tight,
But so short it was beaten in less than a night.
Republic Commando on the other hand,
Went on for too long, and got a bit bland.
Medal of Honor I swear gave me gout,
I don’t think I beat it; not going to find out.
BJ’s in Wolfenstein; a game that’s not smelly.
And he dual-wields rifles; Master Chief should be jelly.
Remember Me got it a little bit rough;
Many felt the gameplay wasn’t quite up to snuff.
But I quite enjoyed it; it left me in awe.
Especially the visuals; every frame dropped my jaw.
The Wolf Among Us fell a bit flat near the end,
But the journey to get there was worth it, dear friend.
And League of Legends? Well let me just say:
If I didn’t have school, I’d play it each day!
So now here we come to the last paragraph,
And all I can hope is this gave you a laugh.
Maybe next year I will write a review,
But until then, Merry Christmas! Hope it’s great for you too!
